HOW ARE YOU DIFFERENT FROM THE OTHER THERAPISTS WE HAVE TRIED?
Many couples come to me with doubts as to how I can help them any better than the last therapist they tried. It has been my experience that most therapists attempt to help couples solve surface level problems like, “How do we argue less?” or “How do we talk about finances without getting angry?” or “How do I deal with my partner’s family that I dislike?” or “How do we co-parent?” While all of these are very important questions, and are appropriate for discussion, these problems only address the how, not the why, of the situation. They never address the root causes or the feelings that underlie and undermine these issues. This is how I differ: I help you address the hurt and angry feelings that are going unheard and help you communicate these feelings better to your partner. You’d be surprised at just how much can be accomplished by just acknowledging and respecting each other’s feelings, so that eventually your issues get resolved before they can even become an issue!

Many people are skeptical about counseling. It’s actually a good thing to be skeptical about talking to a complete stranger, believe it or not. If your partner has questions or concerns, then you, as a couple, should meet with me so that I can help answer these questions and put to rest some concerns. That’s the great thing about consultations; we get a chance to meet one another, and make sure we are a good fit for one another, without any cost or obligation to you!
